Lawn Renovation

Is your lawn in need of some TLC?  If you desire a beautiful, lush lawn but it is beyond a repair or maintenance state we may need to start with a renovation.

A Renovation Includes:

de-thatching equipment pulling up dead grass before seeding

Thatch is a layer of decaying organic matter at the surface of the soil. Too much thatch can cause harm to the lawn by preventing air, water, and nutrients to penetrate your soil to the grass roots.

spreading seed into a fescue lawn

Through aeration and de-thatching we prepare a seed bed for the grass seed to lay down in, insuring good seed-to-soil contact to get the most seed germination as possible.

Compacted soil prevents growth of turfgrass and allows for weeds to move in to the area. Core-Aeration is the process of pulling out cores or plugs of soil to relieve that compaction allowing air, water, and nutrients into the roots zone promoting healthy turfgrass.

In order for a lawn to thrive it needs fed the right nutrients at the right time. We know the ins and outs getting your lawn what it needs. It all starts with a soil test.

Before and After Results

For best results, we schedule renovations to take place in the Fall.

When you make an investment into your lawn you want to make sure it’s off to the right start.    Incorrect timing, improper seed amount, poorly prepared soil, and many other factors can make all the difference in the end result.

We want you to be happy with the results! Happy customers turn into repeat customers and that’s what we strive for.

More About Seeding

Whether a lawn needs established, renovated, or thickened- following these principles will ensure success when planting grass seed.

  • Plant grass seed at appropriate times (September 1st through October 15th for cool-season turf).
  • Ensure good seed to soil contact through one or more of the following processes: aeration, dethatching, dragging, and/or rolling.
  • Use a starter fertilizer at time of seeding (insure that the fertilizer is low in nitrogen)…

More About Aeration

Lawn aeration is the process of creating holes or spaces in the soil to allow water and air/oxygen to penetrate to the root zone of the turfgrass plant.  All plants require water and oxygen in the root zone, compaction and thatch are killers of this. By using a core aerator that pulls 2-4” plugs out of the soil compaction is relieved and open spaces are created to allow that water and oxygen penetration.

Aerating actually damages your lawn….
